![]() Now next week school officially starts, me and one other admin have been working through the night struggling to create a solution because it has been made clear to us that we can’t cancel classes on the first day because “Autodesk is not replying to our calls.” I will escalate this ticket to urgent and you will hear from us soon.Generic copy-paste reply on how to claim student licenses. This license model is no longer valid, and then gave us no solution.O Then another one said that the education-team doesn’t even call people back I will forward your request to the education-team and they will call you back. Two weeks ago, our educational licenses which were valid until 2024 just disappeared, we opened a support ticket and made numerous calls, each support call gave us a different answer Confirm pressing ok, and close the Registry Editor. We have 7+ classrooms each with about 18 stations (not including employee workstations) that are used to teach various courses which use Autodesk programs with well over 500 students taking the courses. In the dialog that opens, copy and paste the path we recovered earlier. Now click on the new folder, and in the right hand side double click on the "Default" Value. If there is no "DefaultIcon" folder, right click on max_auto_file, and choose new>key. The second folder is called "DefaultIcon" (the name is case sensitive). Open that folder, clicking on the little white arrow on the left of the name, and check if you see two folders. Now navigate to this path: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\max_auto_file You will open the Registry Editor Window. Please be extra careful in doing so, because you can do serious damage if you do something wrong.Ĭlick on the start icon (in Windows 8 right click) and type regedit in the search prompt. Now close the dialog boxes pressing Cancel so you don't apply any changes you may have made. I really don't know why they chose this path, but the important thing is we are able to recover it. If you want you can open a Notes Window and Paste the text inside. Select the text shown in the new window and then Ctrl-C to copy that text. ![]() In the properties dialog that appears, click on "Change Icon" and you'll find the icon's source. So, how can I recover the icon? First of all, make sure you have MAX's Icon on your desktop, right click it and then from the context Menu choose properties. exe to start MAX doesn't have any icon information inside of it: if you browse to MAX's install folder you'll see the very same generic icon like so. And once you assign max files back to MAX, the file icon is not MAX's logo, but a generic white page with a blue rectangle icon. So, you have uninstalled a version of MAX, and now your Max files aren't associated with the installed version anymore. I will not be in any way responsible for any damage you do on your System. Remember that when you start to modify the register, you can break your system. If you are not comfortable with this, do not try it. BIG SCARY NOTE: this trick involves modifying the windows registry.
